- Curator Comment:
- This volume is a 1928 edition of Russell's 'Candle of Vision'. The text, first published in 1918, is a set of transcendent essays on Celtic mysticism. The frontispiece includes a hand-drawn illustration and the author's autograph, with a dedication to William Fearon (1892 – 1959) .
- Note on artwork:
- This ink and crayon vignette is placed on the title page and is signed AE. It depicts two figures set on a hillside, overlooking the sea. The figures are animated and appear to be searching for something. The pen drawing is sketchy in style and has delicate colouration added with crayon.
