Francis S. Walker was a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Royal Society of Painter Etchers. Throughout his career he produced a number of illustrated publications of Irish subject matter.
Note on artwork:
Glendalough is a valley in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is renowned for its Early Medieval monastic settlement which was founded in the 6th century by St.Kevin. From its early days, the site has been a popular with pilgrims. With its surrounding architectural remains, St. Kevin's Church was of great archaeological and histroical interest to early Irish scholars. It is a very fine example of a double-vaulted oratory and it has a miniature round-tower belfry.
