This edition of Tennyson’s Poems published by Edward Moxon in 1857 is a fine demonstration of the sympathetic alliance of text and image. The Lady of the Lake raises her hand from beneath the water and offers the sword Excalibur to Arthur sitting pensively in a small boat.
