- Curator Comment:
- This volume consists of two works bound together, 'An historical guide to ancient and modern Dublin' (1821), and 'A guide to the Lakes of Killarney' (1822), by G.N Wright. Both were illustrated by George Petrie and published by Baldwin, Cradock and Joy of London.
- Note on artwork:
- 'View of the city of Dublin from the north' is an illustration for 'An historical guide to ancient and modern Dublin' (1821). This finely detailed metal engraving by Thomas Barber, after a drawing by George Petrie, reflects the common practice at this time - very few artists engraved their own designs.
