Curator Comment:
On Pélissier see ODNB. The book title matches that of the popular parodies and travesties performed on the London stage in the 1890s and early 1900s by the author's company that were known as 'Pélissier's Potted Plays'.
Note on artwork:
Humorous black-and-white image presented as an outline with some shading, showing a plump chef (who somewhat resembles Pélissier himself) failing to toss an egg whilst looking in the opposite direction to read instructions headed 'All about the egg'.
